Mia, our Siberian X Bengal tigress, was born on September 22, 2002 in
New Castle, PA. Her parents were residents at a private zoo where their
supposed accidental breeding resulted in 5 unexpected cubs. These cubs
were not found until it was too late for 3 of them. In the year 2002
the East coast suffered one of its most severe storm seasons. The staff
at the zoo found the 3 cubs frozen to death in the snow. The two
remaining cubs were raised by one of the keepers and listed in an ad
"Free to Good Home". After seeing this ad Forever Wild called the
keeper and learned that they had made several attempts to find the cubs
a home and because of no response they decided to put the cubs down.
The keeper mentioned that the zoo's owners were going through a messy
divorce and had no time to take care of the cubs. Forever Wild
immediately offered to take the cubs and they were sent on the last
flight out of the airport before the storms closed the runways.
Mia and her brother Nakobi were only 4 months old. She was very
dependent and much smaller than her brother. Over the next few months
we noticed that Mia was also a lot more energetic and loved her picture
taken. Mia has been a great addition to our animal family and has been
a fantastic ambassador for Forever Wild. She loves to go to events with
us so that she can be the center of everyone's attention. With her help
we can educate people why we discourage private ownership of exotic
animals as pets.
Mia and Sakai share a enclosure and are very happy together.
